Red Light Therapy Eye Protection
Red light therapy eye protection
High-output red and near-infrared panels are bright. Eye protection can make sessions more comfortable and should always be used when the device instructions recommend it.
Start with the product instructions
There is no single rule that replaces the guidance supplied with a specific device. Read the manual before your first session and follow its advice on distance, angle, session length and eye protection. Never stare directly into illuminated LEDs.
Why fit matters
Protective eyewear should sit securely without large gaps and remain comfortable for the full session. Before switching the panel on, adjust the strap and check that the eyewear will not shift when you change position.
Choose eyewear intended for light-based devices
Ordinary fashion sunglasses are not a substitute for purpose-made protective eyewear. The Veil is LumaDerma's light-therapy protective eyewear option and is designed to pair with panel routines.
Extra considerations
Light sensitivity varies. Stop using the device if you experience discomfort, unusual visual effects or symptoms that concern you. Speak to an optometrist or qualified healthcare professional before use if you have an eye condition, have recently had eye surgery, take medication that increases light sensitivity or are unsure whether the device is suitable for you.
A simple pre-session check
- Read the panel instructions.
- Position the panel at the recommended distance.
- Fit and adjust the eyewear before switching on the LEDs.
- Use the timer rather than estimating session length.
- Switch the panel off before removing the eyewear or moving close to the LEDs.
